Q:  How long has Monroe Free been in the community?

A:  In the summer of 2010 we celebrated 125 years as a church.  Swedish pioneers came west from Chicago in the late 1870’s to settle northwest of Aurora in what is presently the Monroe Township of Hamilton County.  In the summer of 1884 a Sunday School was started and in January of 1885 a constitution was adopted and the church was formed. The first church building was built in that year.  A new and larger building was constructed in 1907.  This was eventually replaced with the modern facility we currently enjoy.  The first phase of construction began in 1983, continued in 1995 with a new sanctuary and was completed in 2006 with the addition of an educational wing and gymnasium.  More history...
